CHARLES CAPOYIANES "CAPPY" VALPARAISO, IN Charles Capoyianes "Cappy", age 80, of Valparaiso, IN, formerly of Merrillville, IN, passed away on Monday, June 12, 2017. Cappy is survived by his wife of 57 years, Juanita; two sisters-in-law: Clara McIlvenna of Hobart, IN and Mary Smith also of Hobart, IN; two nieces: Andi (Shane) Houlihan of Merrillville, IN and Anita Eddleman of South Carolina; one nephew, Duane (Stacy) Dean of South Carolina. He was preceded in death by his parents: James and Mae Rose Capoyianes, and special nephew, Tim McIlvenna. Cappy was a body man at Baruch Oldsmobile in Gary up to the time when he and his wife Juanita opened and operated Ruffles the Clown Balloons and Flowers. He was a retired member of the Merrillville Volunteer Fire Department. Cappy was also a member of Peace United Church of Christ, where he served as president on the church council. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. Friends may visit with the family on Thursday, June 15, 2017 at Geisen Funeral & Cremation Services, 7905 Broadway, Merrillville, IN 46410 from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM, with an Indiana Volunteer Firefighters Memorial Service at 7:00 PM. An additional visitation will be held on Friday directly at Peace United Church of Christ in Merrillville from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM. Funeral Service will be held on Friday, June 16, 2017 at 10:00 AM at Peace United Church of Christ, 1001 W. 73rd Ave, Merrillville, IN 46410, with Pastor Joan Mier officiating. Juanita I was so sorry to read in the paper of your husbands passing. Although I never met him, that day we spoke at Walmart I knew he meant everything to you. It takes a special person to put his life on the line for strangers. Cappy never gave it a second thought when going to a call. We will miss his sense of humor, his smile and above all his friendship. Rest in Peace Cappy and May God hold you in the palm of his hand.
