G. Roy Ackley, 87, died Monday, July 17, 2017.
Born March 6, 1930, in Westfield, he was the son of Wallace M. and Nellie King Ackley. On June 7, 1952, in Wellsboro, he married the former June Roby, who survives.
A Korean War veteran, he served honorably with the United States Air Force from 1950 to 1953. He and his wife owned and operated Beech Lake Farm for 45 years.
Surviving besides his wife, June, of 65 years, are, three sons, Michael Ackley of Westfield, Phillip (Melanie) Ackley of Sabinsville, Steven (Marie) Ackley of Wellsville, N.Y.; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Wallace Ackley, Jr.; and a sister, Elizabeth Hollenbaugh.
Friends may call Friday, July 21, from 7 to 9 p.m., at the Olney Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Ulysses. A graveside service will be held 10 a.m., Saturday, July 22, in Ackley Cemetery. The Rev. Kyle Horton will officiate. Military rites will be accorded by members of the Tioga County Honor Guard. Online condolences may be expressed www.olneyfuneralhome.com.
