Rosella N. Whitmer, 81, of Basye, passed away Tuesday, July 25, 2017 at her daughter's home in Winchester, Virginia.
Services will be held on Monday, July 31, 2017 at 11 a.m. at the Stoney Creek Church of the Brethren. The family will receive family and friends one hour prior to the service for viewing. The Reverend Louie Shafer will officiate. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
For your convenience, alternate viewing times are available at Dellinger Funeral Home in Woodstock from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday, July 28 and from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Saturday. Please join us Monday at the Stony Creek Church of the Brethren.
Rosella was born July 2, 1936 in Woodstock, Virginia. She was the daughter of the late Elizabeth Foltz Holloway.
She was a member of the Stoney Creek Church of the Brethren.
She was a dietician for the Shenandoah Memorial hospital for 21 years and later made meals at the Stoney Creek Home for the Elders.
She had resided at her daughter's home in Winchester for the past five years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert L. Whitmer Sr.; a daughter, Bertie L. Whitmer; and two brothers, Charles Foltz and Bruce Wolfe.
Rosella is survived by two sons, Robert L. Whitmer Jr. and John Whitmer and wife Toni, all of Woodstock; two daughters, Patricia A. Harlow and husband Brian of Winchester and Joan M. Barb and husband Martin of Edinburg; a sister, Diane Jenkins; two brothers, Warren Arnold Jr and David Leonard; six grandchildren, Brian N. Harlow Jr., Ryan D. Harlow and wife Amy, Louise M. Barb, Matthew Barb, Andy A. Whitmer and Peggyrose H. Whitmer; and eight great grandchildren, Brian N. Harlow III, Zoe E. Harlow, Hailey M. Harlow, Lily C. Harlow, Alyssa H. Barb, Kayla N. Barb, Nathan W. Embrey and Louise M. Embrey.
She loved spending time with her family and was very proud of her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Brian N. Harlow Jr., Ryan D. Harlow, Andy A. Whitmer, Robert L. Whitmer Jr., Jacob H.P. Miller, Brian N. Harlow III and Donald E. Miller.
Honorary pallbearers will be Gary Jones, Jeff Jones, Steve Jones, Bobby Jones and Warren Arnold III.

So sorry to hear about my sister-in-law. Patricia u sure did a wonderful job taking care of your mom. Wish we could come home. Health reasons just will not allow. Prayers for all.

I was saddened to hear of Rosie's passing. I worked with her years ago at the hospital and rode to work with her. So sweet and caring, and a hard worker. She had a great sense of humor. I'm sure many will feel the loss. So glad I got to know her.
