Rodney passed away on August 1, 2017 at his home in White Castle at the age of 85. He was a retired operator from Ashland Chemical Company. Rodney was a US Navy who served in the Korean Conflict. Rodney was a member of Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church and the White Castle Lions Club. He enjoyed barbequing and entertaining others. Visiting will be on Saturday, August 5th, at Our Lady of Prompt Succor in White Castle from 10 a.m. until Memorial Mass of Christian Burial at 12 p.m., celebrated by Rev. Paul Yi. Entombment of his ashes will be at a later date at Grace Memorial Park in Plaquemine. Rodney is survived by his son, Rodney D. "Danny" Hymel, Jr. of Maryland; two sisters, Barbara Bergeron of White Castle and Evelyn Gauthreaux of Baker; three brothers, Marion and Ted Hymel, both of Baton Rouge and Larry Hymel of White Castle. Rodney was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years Billie Rae Borel Hymel; daughter, Danette H. Golden; infant daughter, Rhonda Elizabeth Hymel; parents, Paul and Lucille Landry Hymel; five brothers, Lonnie, Jerry, Rudy, Paul and Winton Hymel.
