Jacqueline Wells Renfro, 94, of Blue Springs, Mo., passed away peacefully Saturday, September 16, 2017.
Jacqueline was born May 19, 1923, in Hinesville, Ga., to Macon and Sarah (Beasley) Wells. She married the love of her life, a pastor Alfred Renfro on November 27, 1945 in Hinesville, Ga. She spent her working career as a school teacher at James Bridger Junior High in Independence, Mo., and retired in 1988 after 24 years of teaching. Jacqueline was a long time member of the First United Methodist Church of Blue Springs, and was involved in numerous activities within the church. She was also past president of the Independence Chapter of the Missouri State Teachers Association (MSTA), former member of the Missouri Retired Teachers Association (MRTA), and Eastern Star. Jacqueline enjoyed gardening, singing in the Vesper Voices, and tap dancing until she was 90 years old.
Survivors include daughter, Jane McCloud of Blue Springs, Mo.; brother, Donis Wells (Eva) of Atlanta, Ga.; granddaughters, Sarah McCloud-Jones (Brooks) of Blue Springs, Mo., Aimee Turner of Blue Springs, Mo.; great-grandchildren, William, Matthew, Aria, Isabella, and Charlotte.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Alfred Renfro; parents, Macon and Sarah Wells; sister, Margaret Pruitt; brother, Hoarce Wells.
A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. Monday, Sept. 25, at the First United Methodist Church, 301 S.W. Woods Chapel Road, Blue Springs; with Rev. Dr. Sally Haynes officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service starting at 5 p.m.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to First United Methodist Church of Blue Springs to be designated to the Learning Ladder Scholarship Fund.
