Wayne and I have Known each other since Columbia Twp days! We also had good times down on the farm in the strawberry fields!!!
He was a true friend!
Friday night, Sept. 29 I walked into a Kroger store.
I hear...Mary Hilger being shouted down the produce aisle. It was Wayne!
Even though I had family coming in an hour and meant to pick up a few items quickly, I spent 40 minutes to an hour talking to Wayne! What a gift! He had a grandpa shirt on that I noticed immediately and he shared how much he enjoyed his family and retirement....
He was getting me fired up because I am going to retire in June!
What a precious moment! He was reaching out to me in my grief and now it is my turn...Charlotte and your dear family
Sorry I cannot get to the funeral, but I give you my heartfelt sympathy!
I stand here in disbelief!!! He is a good man!
May God comfort you!

Wayne was a great man. I showed up in 1978 - all of 23 years old - and pretty sure I knew more about education than anyone. Wayne Winter and Dale Dietz made me into the teacher that I am today. Dr. Bill Duffy

I loved teaching with Wayne at ISMS. It was amazing how he knew everyone and everything. Sitting a talking with him and Bill was the best part of my day.

Wayne was my colleague at Columbia Township School. He was a pillar of our school the "go to" guy for our principal, highly esteemed by all his colleagues and patrons, a respected voice in all our staff meetings. Creative language arts teacher and solid as a coach, that is sure.
