Warner Robins, GA- Donald Callan, 89, joined his beloved wife, Wanda Jane Callan in heaven on Wednesday, October 11, 2017.
Donald was born on October 7, 1928 in Johnstown, Pennsylvania to the late Joseph and Thelma Turner Callan. He graduated from Johnstown High School where he excelled in football, track, and wrestling. After graduating, Donald worked at Bethlehem Steel for a few years and later joined the United States Air Force. Mr. Callan proudly served his country during the Korean and Vietnam Wars as a ground radar superintendent and an aircraft control and warning radar technician. He received a Bronze Star and Purple Heart and retired in 1976 with the rank of Senior Master Sergeant. Subsequent to his military career, Donald worked in Civil Service at Robins Air Force Base for 20 years in maintenance.
Not content to sit around in his retirement years, Mr. Callan spent his time woodworking and with his family. He also enjoyed volunteering at Robins Air Force Base Pharmacy and was a faithful longtime member of First Baptist Church of Warner Robins.
His memory will forever be treasured by his loving children, Susan Raymond (David) of Kathleen, Richard Callan (Debbie) of Evans, and Jamie Bacon (Kerry) of Kathleen; 7 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 14, 2017 in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home with visitation one hour prior to the service. Following the service, Mr. Callan will be laid to rest in Magnolia Park Cemetery.
The family will accept flowers, or donations may be given in memory of Donald E. Callan to First Baptist Church, 1135 Watson Blvd., Warner Robins, GA 31093.
