BettyAnn von Wallmenich Obituary

BettyAnn von Wallmenich (Young), a retired Editor and Word Processor, died Thursday, October 12, 2017 after a long illness. She was 78. Mrs. von Wallmenich, of Blue Bell, was a Word Processor and Assistant Editor at Betz-Converse-Murdoch from 1975 to 1980 and a Word Processor for MATSCO, Word Processor/Manager for GE-M&DSO Research & Development and Technical Editor for GE/Lockheed Martin from 1981 to 1994. In her early career she worked for Jersey Central Power & Light and Bell Telephone in NJ. She graduated from Asbury Park High School, Asbury Park, NJ in 1957 and attended Columbia and Rutgers Universities. Born June 6, 1939 in Cranford, NJ, she was a daughter of the late Leonard W. Young and Olive (Addy) Shaw and stepdaughter of the late David C. Shaw. An avid Star Trek fan and cook, she also enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, reading, knitting, playing cards and taking annual trips with her husband to Vermont. She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Austin von Wallmenich, a daughter, Lynnae Mayfield of Aston, PA; a brother, Robert Shaw of Rehoboth, DE, nephew Andreas Shaw, Rehoboth, DE; grandson David Mayfield of DE; granddaughter Allison E. Mayfield and grandson-in-law Jae Leone, DE; great-grandson Hunter, and great-granddaughter Valentina. Services will be private and at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions may be made to Elmwood Park Zoo, Wissahickon Library-Blue Bell, ASPCA of Conshohocken, the Humane Society, Salvation Army, Alley Cat Rescue, or a charity of choice. Family Services entrusted to Boyd-Horrox-Givnish of East Norriton, 610-277-7000.
