Dr. Philip David Ross passed away on November 18, 2017 in his home surrounded by his children and the people that loved him. Dr. Ross was born on August 3, 1938 in Salt City, Utah. He was the second son to Samuel Ross and Evelyn Mayer Ross. His brother Eliot preceded him in death 10 years ago, but is survived by his sister Cecily Cady, his wife, Janie Ross, his children Will Ross (wife, Bong-Hee), Sarah Ross-Elizalde and his grandsons, Christopher Elizalde and Mason Ross.
He was a respected and loved physician who delivered countless numbers of babies over the past 50 years as an obstetrician. He received his medical degree from USC and completed his residency at Stanford University and joined the Air Force after medical school serving as a military physician. In 1984, he moved his Vacaville OBGYN office and re-opened in Lodi CA after marrying Janie on May 15, 1983. Ten years later he closed his practice and worked for 20+ years at San Joaquin General Hospital. In recent years, he had the pleasure of reuniting with Lodi colleagues and in his retirement was able to work with Dr. Gills OBGYN group.
Dr. Ross loved to work and interact with patients, nurses, and doctors. He had a passion for teaching and was known as a patient and thorough instructor to his interns.
When he wasn't working he enjoyed reading spy novels and biographies; practicing Tae Chi and playing with his beloved dog Barron. He will be very much missed by all those who knew and loved him.
His service will be held at 11am Wednesday November 29, 2017 at Church of God 7th Day in Lodi California (2100 Tienda Drive). Funeral arrangements by Lodi Funeral Home, 725 South Fairmont Avenue in Lodi. Lodifuneralhome.com

Dr Ross delivered both of my sons. He was the most compassionate and gentle doctor that I have ever had. He was always quick with a smile and a gentle reassurance. I think of him often and am saddened by the loss of this great man. Prayers to his family.
