Though most called her Auntie I was privileged to be able to call her Ma. Being a friend of LuAnn's meant that you were family; Ma opened her home and her heart to me and to so many others.
Deloris was the fun mom; she always made sure we all felt at home. She put her whole heart into every celebration and party she had. I loved her Christmas parties, the food, the fun and all of the kids she had cared for over the years knew that they were special to her. But Ma didn't just celebrate the holidays; she celebrated our achievements as well. The most special for me was the beautiful Sunday dinner she made for me and a few select guests when I graduated from college. It still means everything to me that she was proud of me, and wanted to me to know it.
Grasshopper drinks, classic movies, 2 months of Christmas, Basset Hounds and Bandit and the love and care of so many kids, are also my special memories of Deloris.
She was a little lady with a giant heart, she was a mighty women.
She was not my mother, but for the most important years of growing up she was my Ma.
I am eternally grateful to have known her.
Thank you Ma, I will always remember you with love and a smile.
LuAnn-Thank you for sharing your mother with me.
Much love,
Laura Griffin
