There were only a few teachers who changed my trajectory the way Mr. Dickson did. I was probably not his easiest student, but he took time and instilled a lot of confidence in me that I didn't know I had. RIP.

Mrs. Dickson, Jennifer and family, I was so sorry to learn of Mr. Dickson's passing. I will always remember him as a fine teacher whose bark was much, much worse than his bite as, try as he might to conceal the fact, he was at heart a very gentle soul. I extend my deepest condolences to you all at this difficult time, and hope this Christmas brings with it some measure of joy and peace as you remember a husband, a father, a friend, and a happy life very well lived.

Thank you, Tom, for changing my life. I still adore you, as I did when I was 16. You were the "one" for me--the teacher who changed me. May you sail with the stars. Blessings to the family you leave behind.

There are those teachers who change everything. Mr. Tom Dickson was that teacher in my life. Mr. Dickson was a major influence on me. He made it ok to be a creative artist. He had the highest standards of any teacher, and that includes through graduate school, I was to have. He could warm your heart with a smile and cut you short with a shrug. He didn't suffer fools gladly. You wanted to be the best version of yourself when you were around him. He encouraged us to "Play to the upper 10%, and the other 90 will be right there for you." He was bold. He was brassy. He was Mr. Dickson. And I'll never forget him.

I met Mr. Dickson at Emerald Hills Rehab. He sat at the same table as my uncle. During the last couple of months of my uncle's life I came everyday during lunch. Mr. Dickson was a sweet kind man and I enjoyed our lunchtime conversation. My thoughts are with you during this difficult time.
