WILKES-BARRE — Barbara Ann Mankey (Barr), 53, went to her eternal home on Wednesday, Dec. 13, 2017, surrounded by loved ones at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital in Wilkes-Barre.
Barbara was born Sept. 2, 1964, to the late Ralph R. and Barbara S. Barr of Washington. Barb was a 1982 graduate of Washington High School and attended median school in Pittsburgh. In 1992, she married Larry Mankey, of Prosperity, who survives. In addition to her mother, Barbara is survived by her daughter, Amber Mankey and her daughter, Ava; and a son, Jacob Mankey (and his fiancee Loren). She is also survived by her brothers, John (Jack), Daniel and Jeffery Barr as well as several in-laws, nieces and nephews.
Barbara will be greatly missed by many. She was always willing to help others. She gave much of her time to the Benton Area Wrestling Club where she spent several years as the club president. Barbara enjoyed painting and crafts, some of which she spent selling at Retherford's Farm Market in Benton and for a brief time owned her own small business, Barbie's Bark'in Biscuits. While living in Washington, she was employed at Country Meadows. She was a long-time employee of Wilkes-Barre General Hospital until 2012.
The family has decided to hold memorial services in both Benton and Washington at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations to start the Barb Mankey Fund to help kids who do not have the money to wrestle. Any donations may be sent to Larry Mankey, 23 Sunset Lake Road, Shickshinny, PA 18655.
Funeral arrangements were by the Clarke Piatt Funeral Home Inc., 6 Sunset Lake Road, Hunlock Creek.

Barb was a beautiful person, and a long time friend, one of those true friends, that you don't see very much, but you know they are still there, I will miss her very much, but she will remain in my heart forever.

Barbara will be missed. She leaves memories that bring smiles to the heart of those who know her best. Although painful now, we will keep in mind God's assured promises to get through tomorrow.
