ARMLIN, Victoria 102, of Sonoma died peacefully in her sleep on December 10th, 2017. Vic was born on July 29, 1915 in Royalton, Illinois. She graduated from De Paul Hospital School of Nursing in St. Louis, Missouri in 1936. Victoria traveled to San Francisco to work at the old Stanford Hospital. There she met James Armlin and they began dating. They were married at Our Lady of Sorrows Church in Los Angeles in June 1940. They shared sixty-one years together before James died in 2001. They purchased a home in Redwood City. This became their primary home, as they raised seven children together. Over the years they moved to various military bases including Honolulu, Hawaii; Yokosuka, Japan; and Seattle, Washington. After each tour of duty was completed, the family returned to their home. In 1993, Vic and Jim moved to Sonoma. Her Catholic faith was a vital part of her life. She developed many skills and talents over the years. She was creative and artistic in her endeavors including needlework, quilting, sewing and crocheting. She was a great cook and baker, enjoyed playing cards, being with family. While in Sonoma, Vic participated well into her 90s in a weekly bowling league, and rarely missed her weekly poker game. Victoria was preceded in death by her husband, James Armlin; son, James Jr.(Charlotte); and daughter, Liza Tubbs (Steve). She is survived by her children Tony Armlin in Santa Rosa, Mary Armlin, (Roger Downey) in Albuquerque, NM; Vicky McLaughlin, (Jeff) in Juneau, AK; Cathy Sale, (Rick) in Applegate, CA; and Terry Garbarino, (Chris) in Sonoma, CA. Victoria is also survived by eleven grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren. A service will be held at Duggan's Memorial Chapel in Sonoma on Wednesday, January 3rd at 11:00 a.m., followed by inurnment in the Sonoma Cemetery, and a reception at FaHa Hall, 197 W. Verano Ave. In lieu of flowers, memorials in honor of Victoria can be made to Catholic Charities, PO Box 4900 Santa Rosa CA 95402 or online at www.srcharities.org.
