HAMPTON - Charles (Chuck) R. Belcher, Sr., passed away Friday, January 5, 2018 at age 81. Born in Grundy VA, and pre-deceased by his parents Willie Green and Virginia Grace Belcher and brothers Clinton and Robert (Bob). Chuck graduated high school in 1954 and joined the US Navy. After discharge from the Navy in 1958, he moved to Norfolk, VA and started his career in airline reservations, where he met his wife, Janet Rae Brewer of Bluefield, WV. Chuck continued to serve our military in the airline reservation industry by working and managing the SATO travel offices at Fort Monroe, Langley, Ft Eustis and Norfolk Naval Base, and other off-site duty stations around the world. Survivors include his sons and their spouses, Charles (Rusty) and Suzanne of Hampton, VA; Patrick (Jessica) of Winter Garden, FL, and Timothy (Catherine) of Fairfax, VA. Dad enjoyed spending time with his family and he loved having his 6 grandsons (Nathan, Justin, Tristan, Cartney, Dylan and Raeden) around him. He was thrilled to know he would be a great grandpa in March 2018. Several nieces and nephews are extended family. Above all, his faith in Christ and leading others to the Lord through discipleship was important to him. For over 40 years, he taught young through senior adults in Sunday School. He was a member of Buckroe Baptist Church where he served as Sunday School teacher and Deacon. He had also been a member of East Hampton Baptist Church and Hall Road Baptist Church. He was also a member of the Gideon's International and loved sharing stories of how others were led to Christ through the message of the New Testament. In their retirement years, Dad enjoyed cruising with Mom and their friends all over the Caribbean. Services will be held at 11:00 am Thursday, January 11, 2018 at Buckroe Baptist Church, with interment at Parklawn Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to The Gideon's International. www2.gideons.org Friends are encouraged to visit www.parklawn-woodfh.com to share memories and words of condolence with the family. Dear Belcher Family, Chuck was a wonderful man with a fantastic sense of humor. I worked for him at Ft Eustis and he was a pleasure to work with. Always kind, considerate and understanding, Chuck was one of the finest people I have ever known. May God comfort you all in this time of sorrow.
