Raymond Philip “Ray” Fortin, 85, of Holyoke, passed away on Wednesday, January 10, 2018 after a short illness. Raymond was born August 9, 1932 in Holyoke, son of the late Philip and Alice (Prevost) Fortin. He was a 1951 graduate of Holyoke High School and was a United States Navy Veteran of the Korean War. Ray worked for the New England Telephone Company for 38 years retiring as Motor Vehicle Manager. He was a member of the Holyoke Lodge of Elks and the Telephone Pioneers of America. Ray is survived by his wife of 58 years, Marie (Graeber) Fortin; his two daughters, Pamela McCarty of Germantown, MD and Kristin Richard and her husband Kyle of Suffield, CT; his son, Randall Fortin and his wife Heather of Milford, NH; six grandchildren, Alexandra and Caroline McCarty, Cody and Quinn Richard, and Max and Alice Fortin, as well as a several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brother Louis Philip Fortin (1997). Ray was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend to all. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, January 27, 2018 at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, 34 Jarvis Avenue, Holyoke, MA 01040. Burial will be private. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, 34 Jarvis Ave., Holyoke, MA 01040 or Shriners Hospital for Children, 516 Carew Street, Springfield, MA 01104.
