Thomas J. Haggerty, 78, of Wilkes-Barre, passed away Saturday, Jan. 27, 2018, at his home.
Born in the Miners Mills section of Wilkes-Barre, he was the son of the late William and Margaret Keblish Haggerty.
Tom attended James M. Coughlin High School, Wilkes-Barre, and was an Army veteran, serving in Germany. He was employed by Johns Manville, Luzerne, until his retirement.
Tom was affectionately known by his nickname "Tricky" and was an avid Norte Dame fan. He was a member of St. Maria Goretti Church, Laflin.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, William "Bucky" Haggerty and James Haggerty.
Surviving are his brother, Robert Haggerty and his wife, Gayle, Swoyersville and formerly of Laflin; nieces and nephews, Theresa Sandrowicz and her husband, David; and Michelle Orlando and her husband, Fred, all of Swoyersville; Gabrielle Dennis and her husband, Robert, South Carolina; Magisterial District Judge James J. Haggerty, Kingston; Dr. Kelly Haggerty Ahuna and her husband, Kevin; and Attorney Patricia Haggerty Lyle and her husband, Tim, all of Amherst, N.Y.; and several cousins.
A funeral will be held at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at Corcoran Funeral Home Inc., 20 S. Main St., Plains Twp., with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Maria Goretti Church, 42 Redwood Drive, Laflin, with the Rev. James J. Walsh, pastor, officiating.
The Parish Rosary Group will pray the Divine Mercy Chaplet and Rosary in the church 30 minutes before the Funeral Mass. All are invited to attend. Interment will be held in St. Mary's Byzantine Cemetery, Lake Street, Dallas. Family and friends may call from 5 to 7 p .m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Memorial donations may be made to St. Maria Goretti Church, 42 Redwood Drive, Laflin, PA 18702.
