DANBY - John B. Griffith Jr. died Jan. 24, 2018, at the Vermont Veterans Home in Bennington. He was born April 23, 1933, to John B. and Edith (Thompson) Griffith, of Danby.
He was a graduate of Burr and Burton Seminary, served in the U.S. Army in Germany 1950-53, was a member of Marble Lodge 76 F&AM, the American Legion, and spent a lifelong career with the U.S. Forest Service, Green Mountain National Forest.
He was predeceased by his parents (John B. and Edith) and his sister, Betty Falzo. He is survived by his brothers Lester (Bud), of Montana, Vollie (Tom) and Edward, both of Danby; and several nieces and nephews.
The calling hours will be from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 31, at the Brewster-Shea Funeral Home in Manchester. The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Feb. 1, at the Danby Congregational Church; burial will occur at a later date.
Memorial contributions in his memory may be made to Second Chance Animal Shelter in Arlington, VT, c/o Brewster-Shea Funeral Services, P.O. Box 885, Manchester Center, VT 05255.

I have so many good memories of Johnny B, from Forest Service to Masons to, of course, dogs, and many in between. You all have my sympathies; may he rest in peace.

rest in peace. I will miss you! I always enjoyed chatting with you when you stopped in Denny's to see me! I can't get to Vermont for the service this weekend. My thoughts and prayers are for you during this time of loss.
