A memorial service for Mary Ann (Louks) Hegna will be at 2:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 9, at St. John's Lutheran Church, 301 Eighth Ave. NW, Kasson, with the Rev. John Allen officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service on Friday at the church.
Mary A. Hegna, 83, a longtime Kasson resident, died Sunday, Feb. 4, 2018, at Fairview Care Center in Dodge Center.
She was born Dec. 24, 1934, in Martin County. On Sept. 18, 1953, she married Wesley Martin Hegna in Kasson. They moved to Kasson and she had lived there since. Mary worked as an assistant in activities at Fairview Care Center for many years. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church and was a very active member there. Mary especially looked forward to the Lutefisk Dinner and her responsibility of cooking the lutefisk, which she did for many years. She enjoyed her family, cooking for her grandchildren and making quilts for them.
Survivors include a son, Steve (Carol) of Duluth; three daughters, Kathy Hegna of Plymouth, Holly (Tom) Maroo of Kasson and Dawn (Robert) Snow of rural Kasson; 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; four sisters, Linda Brockmiller, Pat Distad, Verta Johnson and Liz (Vivian) Westin; and four brothers, Butch, Jerry, Dick and Terry Louks.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wesley; a grandson; five sisters; and five brothers.
