Nancy M Leonard
Nancy was born at Redlands Community Hospital on January 14, 1926. Nancy passed away following several years of declining health due to the onset of dementia, on February 9, 2018 at the age of 92. Nancy's mother and father were Bess (DeVore) and George McIntosh. Bess had moved from Kentucky to Redlands as a child and George was the son of prominent Mentone co-founder William McIntosh. Nancy was the youngest of 5: sisters Elizabeth "Betty" and Annette and brothers Donald and Jimmy. All her siblings preceded her in death. Nancy was a proud alumnus of Crafton Elementary and Redlands Junior and Senior High School; graduating with the class of 1943. During her high school years Nancy was a member of the cheerleading squad and Kimberly Juniors. Nancy worked on the class reunion committee and enjoyed reuniting with her classmates. After high school, Nancy worked at Norton Air Base in the civilian rationing department later transferring to the Rationing Board in Redlands. While working at the Rationing Board, Nancy met Herb Stacey. Herb was another Redlands native; class of 1939. Nancy and Herb married on January 26, 1946. Herb was the son of the late H.H. and Maude Stacey. H.H. Stacey Trucking had been a Redlands business since 1919. Herb passed away in 1962 leaving Stacey Transportation for Nancy to operate. In the mid 1960's Nancy was married for a short time to Wm. (Brandy) Brandenberger. Over the years PTA and volunteer work was a part of her life. Nancy was a sustaining member of the Redlands Community Hospital Auxiliary, a life member of the Associates of the Redlands Bowl as well as a member of the Mentone Historical Group and the California Woman for Agriculture. She also served on the board of Family Services and later as corresponding secretary for the same. H.H. Stacey purchased the business from Nancy after Herb's death until Nancy and Jim Crowley formed a partnership and once again took the reins in the early 1970's. In 1974 Nancy sold her share to the Crowley's. Nancy fully enjoyed working for Pastor Forester at the First Lutheran Church. She also had many good memories as a receptionist for Lois Lauer Reality. Nancy married J. Richard "Dick" Leonard in 1980. They enjoyed travel, the beach, football and especially Hawaii. Dick passed away February 5th, 2017. Nancy is survived by her son Greg Stacey (Lisa), daughter Marty Ellsworth (Bobby) along with Dick's children, Candy Carl (Joe), and Jim Leonard (Kathryn). Nancy leaves 5 grandchildren: Herb Stacey, Jeff Stacey, Josh Ellsworth, Jeremy Ellsworth and Stacey Ellsworth. She had 10 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.
