HUNLOCK CREEK — Thelma Louise Leach, 77, of Hunlock Creek, passed away Feb. 15, 2018, at Birchwood Nursing Center, Nanticoke.
She was born Oct. 15, 1940, in Wilkes-Barre, a daughter of the late Wilbur Dougal and Cora Rogers Dougal.
Thelma retired from Home Health Care and in-home cosmetology.
She adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Thelma was a devoted softball coach for 36 years and was instrumental in developing the Hunlock Creek Athletic Association Softball League.
Surviving are her son, Dale Leach; daughters, Susan Leach and Berdene Perillo, all of Hunlock Creek; three grandchildren, Joseph Leach, Levi Perillo and Jordan Cragle; five great-grandchildren, Caidie, Jaidyn, Kimberly, Bailey and Kolson; sisters, Jane Gill, of South Carolina, and Sharon Pudimott, of Dallas, Pa.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Richard Dougal; and sister, Shirley Strohl.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday from the Clarke Piatt Funeral Home Inc., 6 Sunset Lake Rd., Hunlock Creek, with Pastor Jim McGee officiating.
Visitation will be at the funeral home 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday.
Interment will be in Bloomingdale Cemetery, Ross Township, Shickshinny.

I just found a ceramic bear Thelma painted for me. I worked work her at Impact. She was a great woman. Strong woman. Sad to see she passed. So sorry for your loss

I was very sorry to hear about your mother's passing. I have very good memories of her always cheering us on in basketball and softball and yelling at us if we weren't playing up to our potential( in a good way ). She also had no problem letting the refs know if she didn't like a call; LOL She truely cared about the girls and really made an impact for girls sports. You should be very proud of her commitment and accomplishments. I hope you all are doing well.
