Lora E. Coffin, 99
PORTLAND - Lora E. Coffin, 99, died on Saturday, Feb. 17, 2018.
She was born in Portland on June 20, 1918, the daughter of Albert and Amelia (Peterson) Coffin.
Lora worked at Suburban Propane before starting at Maine Medical Center as an administrator. After many years of faithful service, she was able to retire from there at 65.
Lora was a strong and independent person, who had many interests in life. She was an avid reader, which inspired her to volunteer at nursing homes. She would read to the elderly, who were, in fact, younger than she was at times. Lora also volunteered at the Audubon in Falmouth, because of her love for nature, the outdoors, and bird watching; and she also volunteered at the Portland Museum of Art, due to her appreciation for the artists and their work. She was an active member of AARP, where she met many of her friends. Lora was also a founding member of the Lyric Theater in South Portland, loved musicals and their soundtracks, and was professional singer in her earlier years.
Lora is survived by her nephew, Wayne Goldworthy, and wife, Nancy; nieces, Karen Marrero and husband, Steve; and Lynne MacLeod and husband, Bruce; and several great-nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Lora was predeceased by her brother, Walt Goldworthy, and wife, Tina.
In respect to Lora's wishes, all services will be private. Arrangements are by the Gorham Chapel of Dolby, Blais & Segee. To express condolences and to participate in Lora's online tribute, visit: www.DolbyBlaisSegee.com.

Lora was a very interesting person. She was a good ginger and musician, intelligent, and personable. I knew Lora through music associations: Lyric Theater, various music clubs in Portland and as a friend of my wife Margery. Lora was always fun and interesting with whom to have a conversation. She will be sorely missed by those of us who knew her. Lora, Rest In Peace.

Remembering those times at Lyric Music Theater, especially in the early days with Kiss Me Kate and more, and also sharing church soloist duties. Rest in peace, Lora.
