KELLY MARIE
MCMAHON, 27
DECATUR, GA. - Kelly Marie McMahon, 27, of Decatur, passed away on Thursday, February 15, 2018. Her well known struggle with depression and anxiety was long and hard.
She is survived by her parents Kevin and Teri McMahon, and her sister, Rebecca McMahon. Also surviving are her grandparents, Suzann Threadgill and Joe and Alvera McMahon, as well as cousins, aunts and uncles too numerous to count.
Kelly graduated from The New School in New York City in 2012, majoring in Psychology. She had a green thumb and was a fantastic cook. Kelly will be remembered for her service to others, including her volunteer work at women's shelters and her work to deliver water to elderly residents trapped in apartment towers in the Rockaways after Hurricane Sandy. Kelly loved to travel. Among her favorite spots were Spain, Turkey, Indonesia, Thailand, Fiji, and New Zealand. Kelly also loved music and musicians of all genres.

why?
a question with no answer...
there is no reasoning to make sense of this...
our minds can not understand.
minds can get lost...
Kelly found peace, it was a painful path, but she is now in peace...
may our souls find peace on the memories of beautiful Kelly...
may our hearts find comfort on the warmth of her smile...
that same smile and those same memories that lift her soul now in peace and harmony with the universe...
may our souls find light, like she has, may our souls guide our minds like she sought.

I didnt know Kelly directly but was touched by your willingness to be up front about her challenges and hope it inspires others to reach out for help and enables us as a society to stop treating mental illness as something to hide and be ashamed about rather we should be working to support and help anyone in need and live in a world they should feel comfortable asking for help. So sorry for your loss.

We are deeply sadden at the loss of beloved Kelly, we can't imagine the grief that you Kevin and Teri are feeling right now, but there is hope that you'll see her again. God's love and mercy endures for ever. Kelly was so kind and sweet to us, we enjoyed having her for a short time, her amazing cooking was magical, and she would shoot the the bow and arrow with ease as well as listen to country music with you and even share a drink. Kelly was always ready to help the stranger in time of need, you could always count on her. Our deepest condolences and prayers go out to you Kevin, Teri, Rebecca all the family. May God's love strengthen you all at this time and always. We love you Kelly

Kelly and I did not know each other well, but she was incredibly kind to me during the brief time we knew each other. Truly one of the loveliest people the world has ever known. To her friends and family, I am so very sorry for your loss.

Teri, Kevin and Rebecca,
I just learned of Kelly's passing and join you in your mourning. Please accept my sincerest sympathies. Kelly was a uniquely beautiful person who, even as a young child, had a way of touching people deeply and profoundly. Kelly met me on a Saturday morning and I was forever her friend. Her spirit always lifted me up and she was always a bright light. She made bad days better and good days more so. Her life was way too short, but in her 27 years she did more to make the world a better place than most people who live until 100.

Teri and Kevin - I saw this today and wanted to express my sadness about Kelly. It's been a long time since I have seen you, but I think back on you, Teri, as someone whom I really liked and admired - a kindred spirit in the good old Pogo days. I even recall your bringing Kelly as a baby to our house. Again, I'm so sorry about this, and Elaine and I want to extend our deepest sympathy.

Please know our family's thoughts and prayers are with you all. Kelly will be sorely missed. I remember Kevin and Teri painting the nursery with the Little Mermaid and being so excited at the imminent birth of Kelly. The range and depth of the love and admiration of Kelly below makes it clear we are all made the less for not having Kelly here with us, but we trust her spirit will continue to guide the way forward.
