She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Richard A.
Bowhay, and her mother Mary E. Adkins and father Hugh L. Adkins.
Mary was a long time member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, joining in 1940. She was a charter member of Texas Gamma Master #133, the first Master Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi formed in El Paso.
Mary was a life long member of the First Baptist Church of El Paso, actively involved with the Christian Women's Fellowship, teaching children's Sunday School, as well as various committees.
Mary is survived by her loving children, Richard A. Bowhay Jr. and wife Monica of Lynchburg, VA, Jenna L. Sims and husband Gary of Ruidoso, NM, and John D. Bowhay and wife Ann of Plano, TX.
Mary leaves a legacy of love through her six grandchildren, Michael A. Bowhay, Brian L. Bowhay, John P. Goodman, Amy E. Gruss, Mary E. OBrien, and Elizabeth Bowhay Carnes.
She also has twelve great grandchildren.
Mary was a loving wife, and a compassionate mother and grandmother.
She installed in her children a strong since of family and support for one another. We will feel an emptiness in our hearts but take comfort in knowing we will be reunited with her again.
Visitation will be Friday, February 23rd at 8:30am at Martin Funeral Home Central followed by graveside services at Fort Bliss Cemetery at 10:30am.
