DAVID M. ABEL David Abel, 69, Merriam, KS, passed away Tuesday, February 20, 2018 at the Kansas City Hospice House. Visitation will be 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 25, at Amos Family Funeral Home in Shawnee. The family suggests memorial contributions in lieu of flowers, be made to Kansas City Hospice and Palliative Care, 10100 W. 87th Street, Suite 100, Overland Park, KS, 66212. David was born Jan. 26, 1949 to the late Chris and Anne Abel in Atlantic City, NJ. He graduated from Turner High School in 1967. Shortly after high school, David was drafted into the U.S. Army and served as a Virologist at Ft. Sam Houston, TX. On Jan. 31, 1970, he married Susan King. After being discharged from the military, David went to work for Children's Mercy Hospital until his retirement in 2009. He was an avid fisherman, gardener and an excellent bargain hunter, he always knew where to find the best deals. David is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Susan; daughter, Christina Hoffman and her husband Jason; granddaughter, Sydney Hoffman and grandson, Brady Hoffman.
