Jane M. Stroup, 68, of Palmerton, passed away Monday, February 26 in St. Luke's Hospice House, Bethlehem. She was the wife of Glenn D. Stroup, spending 38 years of marriage together. Born in Palmerton, she was a daughter of the late Thomas and Phyllis (Wagner) George. She worked as a server at Bert's Steakhouse in Palmerton for many years. Jane enjoyed crafting and used her talents to create wreaths placed at veterans monuments in Palmerton over the years. In 2002, the Palmerton National Junior Honor Society placed a wreath she made at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Arlington National Cemetery. Jane's love for, and participation in, her community was well known. She was a past member and secretary of the Palmerton Memorial Park Board of Directors. She served as co-chairperson for both the Palmerton Halloween Parade and Palmerton Pool Pals for more than 20 years, and the Palmerton Community Festival for 25 years. In addition to holding offices in these organizations, Jane was always an integral part of the events they produced. Whether coordinating festival opening programs, shopping for supplies, or stuffing and hiding eggs for the annual Egg Hunt, she worked behind the scenes with pride and commitment to help make every event successful. Her dedication will be greatly missed. Survivors: Husband; daughters Kelly and husband Kevin Greene of Elizabethtown, Shannon and husband Rob Sauers of Bethlehem; grandchildren Meredith, Madison and Cameron; sister Susan George of Palmerton. Jane was predeceased by her sister Kathleen Heckman. Services: Private, at the convenience of family. Arrangements, T.K. Thomas Funeral Home, Palmerton. Contributions: Palmerton Memorial Park Association, PO Box 33, Palmerton 18071.

I miss her, the festival is not the same without her and her smile. She was constantly asking if I needed anything at my stand, if everything was going okay and of course coming to buy a STRAWBERRY SHORTCAKE. You could always find her walking around with her pager in hand and a smile on her face. We loved you Jane and we sure do miss you !!! XOXOXO in heaven.

Jane was a wonderful person, a dear HS classmate, devoted wife, mother, and community worker. Raised in a working class family, she was always doing something for others. I remember her from as far back as elementary school (Franklin), and she always stood tall literally and figuratively as a contributor to the betterment of those around her. She will be dearly missed. My condolences go out especially to husband Glenn, who was by her side for so many years. Via con Dios, Jane!!
