Robert Leroy "Bob" Thorpe, 95, died peacefully on Sunday, November 25, 2018 in Walnut Creek, CA. A World War II navy veteran, a painting contractor, a retired employee of the City and County of San Francisco, and a member of the Santa Rosa chapter of the VFW, Bob saw beauty beyond dry rot and peeling paint and enjoyed resurrecting dilapidated houses the way others restore old cars. A sociable and charitable man who never heard a joke he didn't like (or one he could ever remember), he will remain forever in the thoughts of his two surviving children (Barbara and John), his three grandchildren (Lauri, Steven, and Giovanni), his three great grandchildren (Lainey, Ronnie, and Vinny), his younger brother (Dale), and his border collie (George), not to mention the countless others whose lives he touched. He now joins his oldest son (Fred) and his much beloved wife (Bernice), with whom he shared 69 wonderful years.
A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, November 30, 2018 at 11:00 am at Parent-Sorensen Mortuary & Crematory, 850 Keokuk Street, Petaluma, CA 94952. For those unable to attend, there will be a Visitation on Thursday, November 29, 2018 from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm at the Parent-Sorensen Mortuary. Interment: Calvary Cemetery, Santa Rosa.
