“Loving Husband, Father and Grandfather”

 

Mr. Dominic J. “Mickey” Carini, 98, of Waterbury, entered into the Gates of Heaven on Thursday April 18, 2019 at the VITAS Inpatient Unit at St. Mary’s Hospital after a brief illness. He was the beloved husband of Margaret N. (Cusack) Carini.

Dom was born in Ridgefield, CT on June 12, 1920, son of the late Sante and Teresa (Grassi) Carini. He proudly served in the U.S. Army Air Corp during World War II, honorably discharged as a 1st Lieutenant having earned several medals including the Air Medal for his many missions completed during his service. He graduated from Catholic University in Washington, D.C. with a bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering. He moved to Waterbury after marrying Margaret in 1952. He worked as a quality control engineer for General Electric for over 25 years until his retirement in 1986. His hobbies included gardening and reading. He took great pleasure spending time with his family especially his grandchildren.

Besides his wife Margaret of 66 years, he leaves to treasure his memory; three children, Margaret Ann Carini and her husband Cary Trestyn of Yorktown Heights, NY, Dominic J. Carini Jr. and his wife Mary of Clinton, CT and Michael T. Carini and his wife Missi of Bowling Green, KY; five grandsons, Alex Trestyn, Adam Carini, Steven Carini, Zachariah Carini and Samuel Carini; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, John Carini and a sister, Mary Casagrande.

Dom’s family would like to sincerely thank Drs. Kanthi and Kanagaratnam Jegathesan, Dr. Henry Borkowski and the staffs of Encompass Home Health and the Village at East Farms for their exceptional care and support given to Dom and Margaret.

Arrangements: A funeral will be held on Tuesday, April 23, 2019, 11:00 a.m. from Chase Parkway Memorial/The Albini Family Funeral Home 430 Chase Parkway, Waterbury to St. Francis Xavier Church, 625 Baldwin Street, Waterbury, for a Mass of Christian Burial at 12:00 Noon. Burial with military honors will follow in Calvary Cemetery. A calling hour will be held Tuesday morning  from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.
