Ollie Riley, Sr., of Harrisburg, died at age 89. He was born in Macon, Mississippi to the late West Riley and Mary Alice Riley. Ollie leaves his wife of 69 years: Anna Jane Riley; children: Ollie Riley, Jr. (Brenda), Phyllis Reid (Richard), CherylAnn Aquino, Michael Riley, and Jason Riley (Shirley); brother: Artis Riley; grandchildren: Aram Riley, Christopher Gaither-Reid, Jonathan Riley, Mercedes Addie (Ralph), Brandyn Riley (Nailah) and Caleb Riley; great-grandchildren: Maleah Miller, Aramya Riley, Nora Gaither, Geneva Goodlief, Isaiah Riley, Jayden Riley, Andreis Riley and Areyle Riley. He was preceded in death by 3 sisters and 3 brothers: Rachel Brewer, Mamie Castor, KatieLee Collins, John, Richard, Tommie and Willie Riley.
He attended school in Erie Pennsylvania and graduated from Academy High School. In 1953, his family relocated to Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. Although Ollie enjoyed a diverse secular career from working at Gannett Fleming, Combined Insurance, Central Dauphin School District to finally ending his semi-retirement with Conewago Place, no work brought him greater joy than serving Jehovah as an elder and pioneer publisher.
After gaining accurate knowledge of God's Kingdom and his purpose for mankind, Ollie symbolized his dedication by baptism on August 3, 1950. He loved sharing Bible truths with others and took great pleasure in conducting personal Bible studies with individuals from all walks of life.
He will be missed by many and was loved by many more. Amen!
A memorial service will be held between 7:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. on Friday, February 14, 2020, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses located at 4331 Rodkey Road, Harrisburg,PA 17110.
