The humble and miraculous life's journey of our dearly beloved, MSGT (Ret) John Wayne Furlow, Sr., has come to a peaceful and serene ending, as God has summoned him from an earthly life of labor and love, to an Eternal Life in Heaven on Monday, August 4, 2014, merely 23 days before celebrating his 57th birthday, at the Chippenham Medical Center in Richmond, Virginia. His home was a haven of love and acceptance at 13310 Gladehill Road, Chester, Virginia. John was a true gift from God and a bouncing baby boy that was born to Olivia Murray Furlow Taylor and the late Harden C. Furlow, Sr. on August 27, 1957 in the Lone Star State of Abbott, Texas. In addition to his late father, John was reunited in Heaven with oldest brother, the late Martin L. Furlow, Sr. It has been stated that "everything in Texas is bigger and better", and so were the hopes, dreams and aspirations of our wonderful John. He received his formal education from the Waco Independent School District and was a 1975 graduate of Richfield High School. During his high school days John was an" all around", gifted star athlete, who excelled in the areas of Football, Basketball and Track & Field. Eager to further his quest for knowledge, John then matriculated to the renowned University of Wisconsin, however, his college days were put on hold, as John enacted his civic pride and duty to serve his country and enlisted in the United States Air Force at the tender age of 19. John's prestigious military career was most rewarding and spanned over a 22 year period, as he retired attaining the rank of Master Sergeant. It was during this time that he met another Airman who was a sweet and charming young lady, and would prove to be "the love of his life", the former Beatrice Lucille Fisher, lovingly referred to as "Bea". After a whirlwind courtship, they were united in Holy Matrimony in February of 1981. This loving union has lasted for over 33 wonderful years and God has blessed them with 2 handsome sons, John Wayne Jr. and Earl DeHaven, along with a beautiful daughter, LaNeisha Demaris. With a sincere etermination, John continued to persevere through his educational pursuits and on October 14, 2005, John was awarded a Bachelor of Business Administration in Business Management from Almeda University. He was then gainfully employed with Defense General Supply Center (Bellwood) in Richmond, Virginia. At an early age John confessed Christ as his Personal Savior and was baptized at the Bold Springs Baptist Church in West, Texas. Upon relocating to the state of Virginia, John united with his wife and family, and became a member of Second Baptist Church in Chester, Virginia. Our beloved John was a fun-loving, whimsical, somewhat "laid back" gentleman who possessed a wonderful, sincere demeanor, and was a wonderful provider and a strong support system to his endearing family. John demonstrated a kind and caring love to everyone, as the doors of his home were opened with "welcome hinges" to family and friends. His children, especially his grandchildren, were truly "the apple of Papa's eyes" and dearest to his heart. In addition to his love for family, John was an avid lover of good gospel jazz music and was proud to be a Texas born, loyal, supportive, faithful, dedicated and die-hard Dallas Cowboy Football Team Fan! We are Thankful to God for blessing us with such a wonderful man who was a true inspiration to us all. We will dearly miss his presence here with us, but we rejoice in the belief that though he is absent from his tired, physical body..his soul is present with the Lord! To God Be The Glory for the life of our precious John! The beautiful memories of John's Life Journey will forever be cherished by his loving, faithful and devoted wife, Deaconess Beatrice L. Furlow, 2 loving and devoted sons, John W. Furlow, Jr. and Earl D. Furlow ; his loving and devoted daughter, LaNeisha D. Furlow; a loving and devoted god-daughter, Honey G. Santiago; 2 loving and adorable grandchildren, Rishon G. Williams and Jamari M. Furlow; his loving and devoted mother, Olivia M. Taylor of Waco, Texas ; a loving and devoted sister, Debra J. Hazley of Waco, Texas; 4 loving brothers, Samuel C. Furlow (Gloria Nell) and Larry J. Furlow (Janice) all of Dallas, Texas, and Harold P. Furlow (Tina) of Waco, Texas; a devoted mother-in-law, Deaconess Viola L. Fisher; 2 devoted sisters-in-law, Carolyn V. Fisher and Costella M. Fisher; 2 devoted brothers-in-law, Earl D. Fisher (Pamela) and Burrell D. Fisher, Jr. (Deborah); loving and devoted friends, Deaconess Darbara R. Simmons (Deacon Eric), Sharon D. Shaw, Alvin Kelly (Lisa) and the Kelly Family, Theodore O. "Teddy" Dixon (Tina), Alonzo Blackman (Denise), Kenneth Neal (Wanda), Tony Conners (Gail), Greg Johnson, nieces, nephews, cousins, neighbors and countless friends from the Defense General Supply Center (Bellwood) and the FedEx Company.
