Mavis Beryl Goehring

1925 - 2010

Mavis Beryl Goehring, 84, of Lodi, died September 21, 2010, at Arbor Nursing Center following kidney failure. She was born to Emil and Emma (Broschat) Martin on December 10, 1925, at Fessenden, North Dakota. She graduated as valedictorian from Fessenden High School in 1943, and attended Interstate Business College in Fargo, North Dakota. She worked for Standard Oil of Indiana in Fargo and then moved to California with her family in 1944, and was the bookkeeper at Lodi Hardware. She married Levi Goehring on March 14, 1948, and they lived in Lodi ever since. They were blessed with two sons. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Lodi, where she served as Sunday School teacher, choir member, church treasurer, and in the Women's Missionary Fellowship. She enjoyed collectibles, reading, writing, and cruises. She kept a daily diary of her activities since the age of ten. Mrs. Goehring is survived by her husband of 62 years, Levi Goehring of Lodi; two sons, Arden Lee Goehring (and wife, Debbie) of Lodi and Barrett Jay Goehring of Honolulu, HI; three grandchildren, Jessi, Brandon, and Kristina; two great-grandchildren, Ronnie and Malia; also, a sister, Loris Enzminger of Lodi. Friends are invited to visit Saturday and Sunday from 9:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Lodi Funeral Home. A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, September 27th, at 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church in Lodi. Committal is private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to First Baptist Church, 267 N. Mills Ave., Lodi, CA 95242.
