Roberta Evans Obituary
Mrs. Evans was the organist at the United Congregational Christian Church for 62 years and continued as Organist Emeritus. She was very active in the U.C.C.C., including: organ and choir concerts, Sunday School, New Horizons Circle, and was secretary for the Lodi Council of Churches. Music and Church were a major part of her life.
On Oct. 17, 1943, Roberta married Raymond Lyle Evans. They enjoyed a loving marriage for 59 years.
Roberta is survived by two sons: Robert (Candy) of Hayden, Idaho; and Richard (Bonnie) of Lodi. There are 6 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren; her sister Helen Martin, sister-in-law Dot Evans, nephew Don (Ann) Evans, and many more nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband Lyle, her sister Alice, and her brother Jim.
A memorial service will be held on Wed., Sept. 29, 2010, 11:00 am at the United Congregational Christian Church.
Memorials may be at the Donor's request or to the Abiding Memorial Fund of the U.C.C.C.

As you can see, I got hold of my sister, Carol. I am Berta's niece and daughter of her brother, Jim. Aunt Berta and I kept in touch via Christmas cards every year, even after my Mother Dorothy passed away in 2003. She always wrote about how much she loved her Organ Playing in the church and seemed so strong when she was weak. I remember a dinner when I was very young where she served up this delicious "chicken" only to find out later it was my first taste of rabbit! I chuckle at tht now. My dearest thoughts and prayers go out to Bob, Rick and Helene and their families. I wish I had known my cousins as well as I knew Berta. She will be greatly missed.

I will always remember her as "Aunt Berta", with fond memories, including her Christmas cards and letters. My sincere condolences to my cousins Rick and Bob Evans and their families, and to my Aunt Helen (Flockhart) Martin.
