Allen Daniels Obituary

Born in Shelton, Washington, Nov, 18, 1922, Allen Lyle Daniels was one of eight children born to Hazel Banks Daniels and Philip Roy Daniels. Following graduation from Chico State College with a degree in business administration, he met and wed Virginia Thompson on June 15, 1947, with whom he had three children (Craig, Caren and Carol) and 63 years of devoted marriage. He passed away on Sept. 23 after a lengthy battle with cancer.
Survived by wife Virginia; son Craig and wife Judi, daughters Caren and Carol; grandchildren Jeff, Bryce and Tracy (Mike); great grandchildren Jackie and Eric; sister Audrey Daniels Jones of New Jersey; Uruguayan foreign exchange "daughter" Maria Mendoza Neuerburg (Claus) now living in Germany; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A proud Navy veteran who honorably served in WWII and the Korean Conflict, Allen served 20 years of active and reserve Naval duties, retiring as a Commander.
Allen became the first business manager for Sacramento State College, and served in public school business administration positions in Lodi (Lodi School District) and San Jose (Moreland School District). He changed professions and became a bank business development officer in the late years of his career. Following retirement, he and Virginia moved back to Lodi in 1987, where he resided until his death.
An avid golfer and member of Woodbridge Golf and Country Club (where he was Senior of the Year in 2008), he was a stellar organizer of tournaments for senior amateur golfers with the Pacific Senior Golf Assn. He also enjoyed watching sports on TV, playing bridge, socializing with family and friends, and activities at First United Methodist Church. He thoroughly enjoyed his participation in the Lodi Whist Club and several local bridge clubs.
Allen was instrumental in organizing, and was a charter member of, the Westgate Rotary Club in San Jose, where he served as their second president; he was proud of his involvement in Rotary International, and was honored as a Paul Harris Fellow.
He was a wonderful husband/father/father-in-law/grandfather/great grandfather and role model, with a quick mind, witty sense of humor, and generous spirit.
Memorial services will be held at Lodi's First United Methodist Church, 200 W. Oak Street, on Sat., October 16 at 11 a.m. A reception will follow in the church fellowship hall.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First United Methodist Church.

Mrs. Daniels, Caron, Carol & Craig, I am sorry to hear of the passing of your husband and father. It is never an easy time but hope you have a higher power that will help get you through this difficult time. I have a lot of childhood memories of your family from the Cardinal St. gang! I remember I used to get in trouble as I waited for someone to answer the doorbell as I would pick at the paint on the porch!! I hope you are all doing well as it has been many years, but memories but memories never fade!
