William Hunter Obituary

Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend lost his courageous battle with cancer and went home to the Lord on October 7, 2010. He was born in Norfolk, Nebraska on October 28, 1929, to Wallace and Helen Hunter. He has an older sister, Barbara Funk. Bill grew up in Omaha, Nebraska and graduated from Central High School and continued his education at University of Nebraska with a Bachelor of Science and Master of Science in Geology. He also served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict. He was a Registered Geologist in Southern California for 28 years then moved to Northern California (Sacramento) where he continued his career in Geology. Bill moved to Lodi in October, 2003. Bill had his own business, Wm J. Hunter & Associates, where he and his wife, Germaine, worked together for the last 24 years. He was an Elder and Deacon with Zion Reformed Church in Lodi and cherished the friendships with many. He was loved by all who had the pleasure of knowing this kind and unique man. He had a positive influence for life and those around him. As Bill begins his new journey in his final resting place with the Lord, his family and friends will miss him deeply. His is survived by his wife, Germaine Vilhauer Hunter; children: son, Scott (wife, Ann), granddaughter, Rebecca Hunter; son, Matthew (wife, Julie), grandchildren, Madison, Amanda, and Christopher Hunter; daughter, Allison Pirayoff and granddaughter, Melissa Pirayoff. Friends are invited to visit Wednesday from 12:00 noon until 8:00 p.m., Thursday from 8:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m., and Friday from 8:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Lodi Funeral Home. Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, October 16th, at 11:00 a.m. at Zion Reformed Church in Lodi. Committal is private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Bill's name to Zion Reformed Church, 105 S. Ham Lane, Lodi, CA 95242. A virtual register book may be signed at www.lodifuneralhome.com where memories can be shared. Lodi Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements.

Bill always said hello to everyone, had a kind word to share, and was so friendly. He was so supportive and helpful with our new infant care and preshool at Zion. He was a true gentleman. He will be missed by all.

My dad was a great man....he raised me right, supported me in everything that I did my entire life. He was kind, loving and very supportive. He will be greatly missed. I shall see him once again when I go home to be with the Lord, until then *I* LOVE YOU DAD!!!!

My father was the such a kind and caring man. For those of you that knew him, I'm sure you would agree. I will miss him so much. I was fortunate to be with him as his began his journey to his final resting place. I will miss him so much. He was quite an influence in my life and I only hope that I can follow in his kindness for people and dedication to those around him.
