Eleanor Barrett Obituary

Eleanor Dwyer Barrett long time resident of Lowell; 82 Lowell Eleanor Dwyer Barrett, 82 years of age, died on July 28, 2008 after a brief illness. She was the beloved wife of Francis X. Barrett to whom she had been wed for sixty years. Her parents were the late Timothy J. and the late Mary J. (Kelley) Dwyer. Eleanor was deeply loved and respected by all who knew her. A long time resident of Lowell, she attended local school, graduating from St. Patrick High School in 1942. She subsequently attended Lowell Commercial College. Her work experience included employment as a secretary at Thompson Hardware Co. and for many years as a legal secretary to Atty. Francis F. O'Donnell of the law firm O'Donnell and Dobson. Her civic activities included service as an active member of the Ladies of Charity/St. John's Hospital and as a volunteer in that institution. She also held membership in the Guild of the Infant Saviour and was a charter member of the Lowell Lawyers Wives' Club. Her whole life was bound up in her family. She is survived by her husband and five children: Kevin T. Barrett and his wife, Denise Siomkin of Franklin, MA; Eleanor B. Krolian and her husband, Dennis of White Plains, NY; Brian F. Barrett and his wife, Joan of Falls Church, VA; Elizabeth M. Barrett and her husband, John Frumer of Bowdoinham, ME; and Mark W. Barrett and his wife, Beatriz of Lynnfield, MA. Also surviving her are fifteen grandchildren: Timothy, Kathryn and Anne Barrett; Alexandra and Allegra Siomkin; Elizabeth, Paul and Emily Krolian; Patrick, Elise and Sean Barrett; Louis and Kelley Frumer and Liam and Kieran Barrett. She was the aunt of Judith, David and Susan Wiley, Rosemary Dwyer, Mary Ellen Josselyn and Daniel Thomas. Her siblings, Daniel, John, Catherine, Henry, Mary Louise and William predeceased her. BARRETT - Eleanor Dwyer Barrett, 82, of Lowell, wife of Francis X. Barrett. Friends may call at the O'DONNELL FUNERAL HOME, 276 PAWTCKET ST. at Fletcher from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 P.M. on Thursday. Her Funeral will take place from the Funeral Home Friday morning at 9 o'clock followed by a Funeral Mass at the IMMACULATE CONCEPTION CHURCH at 10 o'clock. Burial in St. Mary Cemetery, North Tewksbury. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make contributions in Eleanor's memory to the Immaculate Conception Building Fund, 3 Fayette St., Lowell, MA 01852.
