Mary E. Kaknes

Mary E. Kaknes of Townsend, retired Lowell High teacher; 85 TOWNSEND Mary Esther (Jones) Kaknes, 85, a Townsend resident for over 30 years, died Saturday, August 9, 2008. She was born in Lowell on March 25, 1923, a daughter of the late Frank H. and Doris (Fletcher) Jones. Mary Esther was a graduate of the Massachusetts College of Art in Boston. Prior to her retirement, she had worked as an Art Teacher at Lowell High School. She is survived by her daughter, Karen L. Angeli and her husband, Michael of Novato, CA; three sons, Jay H. Kaknes and his wife, Melissa of Danville, NH, Paul R. Kaknes and his wife, Dorothy of Lowell, and William E. Kaknes and his wife, Sheri of Brockton; a sister, Ruth Bedell of Wilmington; 11 grandchildren, Krista, Melanie, Melissa, Stephanie, Natalie, Michelle, Jaclyn, Alec, Ethan, Alex, and Sierra; and her great-grandchildren, Elyssa, Nathan and Harrison. She was also the mother of the late E. Douka Kaknes who died in 1978, and the sister of the late Doris Murphy. KAKNES Mary Esther (Jones) Kaknes, 85. Friends and Family are invited to attend burial on Thursday, Aug. 21, 2008 at 11 a.m. at Edson Cemetery, Lowell.
