Alma Fortier Obituary

Alma M. Fortier lived in Lowell and Billerica; 91 LOWELL Alma M. (Boisvert) Fortier, 91, formerly of Peabody, Billerica, and Lowell, MA, and recently of Tyngsborough MA, died Friday evening, in Palm Manor Nursing Home in Chelmsford. She was the wife of the late Rudolph E. Fortier. Born Salem, MA, on Jan. 15, 1917, she was a daughter of late Theode and Malvina (Frechette) Boisvert. Throughout her working life, Mrs. Fortier had been employed by Sylvania in Salem, MA, Champion Lamps in Lynn, MA, and Beverly Hospital in Beverly, MA. She was so proud to have achieved 91 ½ years and lived longer than any member of her family. She was always a good sport and loved a good time and especially her trips to the Cape. Anyone that ever came in contact with her immediately loved her. Surviving are her daughter, Jeannette and her husband, Louis Chatel with whom she resided in Tyngsborough; her son, Gerard Fortier and his wife, Lidia of Billerica; her grandsons, Sgt. Louis Chatel Jr. of the Weare, NH Police Dept. and spouse, Denise of New Ipswich, NH, Lt. Robert Chatel of the Pelham Fire Dept. and his fiancée, Cathy Masson of Pelham, NH, and Steven Fortier of Lowell, MA; her granddaughter, Diane Lajoie of Manchester, NH; two great-granddaughters, Michelle Lajoie and her fiancé, Philip Hernades of Manchester, NH, and Courtney Lajoie of Fitchburg; two great-grandsons, Mark and Matthew Chatel of Pelham, NH; and several nieces and nephews; and very special friends, Rocco Chatel and Jewel and Nugget Fortier. She was also the sister of the late Jeannette Lasette, Armand Boisvert, Paul Boisvert, Blanche LaPointe, and Anna Paquette. FORTIER Friends may call at DRACUT FUNERAL HOME 2159 Lakeview Ave., DRACUT, on Tuesday from 4 until 7 P.M. Her Funeral will be held from the funeral home on Wednesday at 9 A.M. followed by her Funeral Service at 10 A.M. in the Church of the Nazarene in Lowell. Interment in St. Joseph Cemetery, Chelmsford. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Alma's favorite charity, the Pelham Animal Shelter or the charity of your choice.
