Doris Dowling Obituary

Doris I. Dowling of Lowell, active at St. Patrick Church; 86 LOWELL Doris I. (Archambault) Dowling, 86, a member of a well known Lowell family, died Friday morning, at Saints Medical Center surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of the late William A. Dowling who died July 9, 1978. Born in Manchester, New Hampshire, November 25, 1921, the daughter of the late J. Edmund and the late Rose (Therrien) Archambault. She attended Lowell Schools and was a graduate of Lowell High School in the Class of 1940. Before retiring, Mrs. Dowling was a cashier at the Dining facilities at U/Mass Lowell for several years. Mrs. Dowling was a communicant of St. Patrick Church where she was a member of the Blessed Virgin Sodality. In addition, she was a member of the League of Catholic Women and the St. Jude Guild. She is survived by two daughters, Charlotte "Peachie" Quealey and her husband, James of Lowell, and Maryann Dowling-Abcunas and her husband, Robert of Lowell; a son, William E. Dowling of Dunstable; 12 grandchildren, Holly McAnespie and her husband, Daniel, Kerry Ryan and her husband, Terrence, Patrick Sheehy and his wife, Colleen, William Dowling and his wife, Jean, Ryan Dowling, Melanie McManmon and her husband, James, Jamie Quealey and her fiancé, Robert Gumb, Bridget Dowling, Ashley Stokes and her husband, Keegan, Matthew Dowling, Catherine Dowling and Michael Abcunas; 9 great-grandchildren; two sisters Alice Rondeau of Lowell, and Mildred Sheldrick of Olympia, WA; a sister-in-law, Patricia Archambault of Lowell; and many nieces and nephews. She was also the mother of the late Patrick M. Dowling, and mother-in-law of the late Susan M. Dowling. DOWLING - In Lowell, September 5, 2008, at Saints Medical, Doris I. (Archambault) Dowling of Lowell, wife of the late William A. Dowling. Friends may call at the O'DONNELL FUNERAL HOME, 276 PAWTUCKET ST. at Fletcher from 4 to 8 P.M. Monday. Her Funeral will take place from the Funeral Home Tuesday morning at 9.o'clock followed by a Funeral Mass at ST. PATRICK CHURCH at 10 o'clock. Burial in St. Patrick Cemetery.
