William Gizara Obituary

William Anthony Gizara formelry of Lowell, 69 Port Charlotte FL William Anthony Gizara, 69, of Port Charlotte Fl, died unexpectedly on August 29. He was born in Detroit, Michigan, on April 15, 1939 son of the late Chester and Janina (Wocjik) Gizara, Polish immigrants who entered into the United States through Ellis Island. "Bill" grew up in N. Greenbush in the Wyantskill area of upstate NY. He was a graduate of Troy High School and Hudson Valley College. Bill later received his BS Degree in Business from New Hampshire College in 1977 and was proud to have furthered his studies towards his MBA at Harvard University. Bill served in the U.S. Navy from 1957-1963 and married his first love, Judith Anne Wolfe of West Sand Lake, NY in 1959. While traveling extensively throughout Europe, Bill brought his first born daughter Lisa a doll from every country he visited. Chrissie, his youngest was born in 1964 when the family lived in Lowell, MA. Bill made a career as an engineer for Honeywell and made his home in Westford, MA from 1971 until 1995. He then moved to Port Charlotte, Fl to take care of his parents, or as he joking used to say to "Raise his parents". While there, Bill survived Hurricane Charlie, losing his home in the storm. He thoroughly enjoyed his retired life exploring new hobbies that included windsurfing, tennis, biking, golfing and most recently kayaking. He traveled often and enjoyed Hawaii, Mexico and the Caribbean. Encouraged by his daughters, Bill bought a convertible sports car and loved driving in the early mornings and late evenings, top down, along Florida's Gulf Coast. His survivors include former wife Judith (Wolfe) Gizara of Mason, NH, his daughters Lisa Gizara of Santa Monica, CA, and Christina Gizara of CO. He was the brother of Thomas Gizara of Valatie, NY, and Carole Harlow of Wyantskill, NY. Bill and Judy were high school sweethearts and married for 30 years. Lisa and Chryssie warmly remember that "Daddy" always encouraged them to pursue their artistic passions. "Chryssie" is an accomplished Natural Horsemanship Trainer in Colorado, breeds American Paint Horses and is happiest surrounded by them. "Lise" is an accomplished painter, photographer and published photo journalist in Santa Monica, CA. They remember their father's incredible sense of humor and he would always tell them his life anecdotes. Laughter was always present in all of their conversations. He could fix absolutely anything, was extremely intelligent, fun to travel with and a gifted writer. He believed "You can't take it with you, so enjoy your life now!" GIZARA Funeral Services will be held at the Badger Funeral Home, 347 King St. Littleton, MA on Friday at 12 noon. Visiting hours will be from 10-12 a.m. prior to the service, burial will be in Groton Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in his memory to www.StandUp2Cancer.Org see www.badgerfuneral.com for more information.
