Hugh Finnerty Obituary

Hugh A. Finnerty Sr. lifelong Lowell resident, 74 Lowell Hugh A. Finnerty Sr., 74, a lifelong Lowell resident, died Saturday, September 13, 2008 at Lowell General Hospital. He was the widower of Mary J. Finnerty. Born January 22, 1934, in Lowell, he was a son of the late Patrick Finnerty, and the late Dorothy (Bouvier) Finnerty, he was educated in the local schools, including St. Peter's School. Mr. Finnerty served with the United States Navy during The Korean War and was awarded The National Defense Ribbon and The Navy Occupation Medal. He also held membership in The VFW Walker Rogers Post 662, and was a communicant of St. Patrick's Church. He was employed as an Extruder Operator with General Electric in Lowell for over 20 years before his retirement. In his spare time he enjoyed playing Bingo and Cribbage. He also was a sports fan, especially of The Boston Red Sox. He liked to travel and enjoyed camping. He is survived by his ten children; Deborah Credit and her husband, Dave of Methuen, Hugh Finnerty Jr. and his wife, Kathleen, of Lowell, Kathleen Philbrick of Arcadia, Florida, Elizabeth DeMarco and her companion, Gerald Boucher, of Lowell, Rosanna Shepard and her husband, Howard, of Lowell, Patrick Finnerty and his wife, Tamara, of Nebraska, Michael Finnerty of Lowell, Mary Stein of Lowell, Kevin Finnerty and his wife, Alma, of Lowell, Kimberly Lavoie and her husband, David, of Lowell, nineteen grandchildren, and thirteen great grandchildren. He was also survived by five siblings; Marilyn Delaney and her husband, Jim, of Washington, MA, Frederick Finnerty and his wife, Patricia, of New Hampshire, Valida Locke and her husband, Leon, of Dalton, MA, Loretta Pierce and her husband, Elvis, of Las Vegas and Sharon Lamothe of Chelmsford. He was also the father of the late Peter Finnerty who passed away in 1968. FINNERTY You are invited to his Calling Hours from 9:30 A.M. until 11:30 A.M. on Wednesday.
