Allan Lewis Levine

Mr. Allan Lewis Levine Prominent Businessman Civic Leader LOWELL Mr. Allan Lewis Levine, a former Lowell resident more recently of Albuquerque, New Mexico, entered into rest; September 17, 2008, aged 85 years. He was the husband of the late Pearl S. (Rubin) Levine, and loving companion of the late Carol N. Kinney. A United States Navy Veteran of World War II. Born in Lowell, October 16, 1922, the son of the late William and Bessie (Bravarman) Levine. Mr. Levine received his early education in the Lowell School system, and was a graduate from Phillips Academy in Andover, with the Class of 1939. Matriculated at Harvard, receiving his A.B. Magna Cum Laude from Harvard College, Class of 1943, prior to being commissioned in the United States Navy. He served in the Navy during World War II, in the Pacific Theatre, participating in the invasions of Gilbert Islands, Marshall Islands, Hollandia, Saipan, Guam, Iwo Jima, and Okinawa. After the war, Allan returned to Lowell and entered the family business, Towers Motor Parts Corporation, in Lowell, retiring in 1998. Mr. Levine was active in many civic organizations; The Greater Lowell Chamber of Commerce, United Fund of Greater Lowell, Lowell Council of Social Agencies, Harvard Club of Lowell, Harvard Club of Boston, Harvard Alumni Association, Vesper Country Club and the Automotive Service Industry Association. Active in civic affairs he served on the boards of Merrimack River Savings Bank, which merged into Lowell Five Cent Savings Bank and the former Saint John's Medical Center. In Albuquerque, Mr. Levine served as treasurer of the Bernalillo County Democratic Party and as a board member of the Albuquerque Committee of Foreign Affairs. Allan was a member of Temple Beth El, in Lowell, MA from 1945 to 2005; where he served as a Trustee, Assistant Treasurer, President, and Chairman of various committees. He also served as Board Member and Chairman of the Cemetery Committee for Congregation Albert in Albuquerque and sang in the choir. Surviving him are his beloved children, Erica Levine Powers Esquire of Newburgh, NY, formerly of Concord, MA, and John B. Levine of Lexington, MA; cousin, Joan B. Pinck of Cambridge, MA, the children of his beloved companion, Carol N. Kinney, Tom Roberts and wife, Leah Albers, Margaret Roberts MD, Shelley Roberts and husband, Duane Moore, all of Albuquerque.
