John Vieira Obituary

John R. Vieira Jr. of Townsend; 84 Townsend John R. Vieira Jr., 84, died Saturday, October 18th at Health Alliance, Leominster after an illness. His wife of 59 years, Adeline A. (Fallavalitta) Vieira, died this past June. Mr. Vieira was born in Boston, July 15, 1924, a son of John R. and Florence (Safrine) Vieira and grew up in East Boston. He was a graduate of the Boston Trade High School. He had resided in Acton for 22 years before moving to Townsend in 1987. He is survived by three sons, John D. Vieira of Leominster, Robert D. Vieira and his wife Patricia Keanneally, Paul D. Vieira and his wife Sharon all of Pepperell, a daughter and son in law; Angela M. and John Craggy of Brookline, NH, a brother; Ernest Vieira of New Britain, CT and seven grandchildren. He was the brother of the late Edward Vieira of Hull and Marie Cornetta of Saugus. Until his retirement in 1980, Mr. Vieira worked 27 years as an electromechanical technician at Lincoln Labs in Lexington, Mass, a division of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Mr. Vieira was an accomplished sailor and for many years maintained a mooring at Salem Harbor. Through the years he had designed and built several sailboats and kayaks including a 23' sloop he rebuilt in the early 1970's. He also enjoyed bicycling and was a very competent carpenter and electrician. VIEIRA A funeral Mass will be celebrated 10 am Saturday, October 25th at St. John the Evangelist Church, 1 School St, Townsend. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery, Townsend. Paul, Bob, Angela and John -

Both Brad and I are very sorry about your huge losses over the last several months. My heart goes out to you all. I remember your Dad from many family gatherings. He was always very nice to me and the rest of our family. I'm hoping time heals fast.
