Edward Farley Obituary

Edward A. Farley Lowell native, Verizon retiree, Navy vet; 64 HAVERHILL Edward A. Farley, 64, of the Bradford section of Haverhill, fell asleep in the arms of the Lord on October 23, 2008, at his home surrounded by his loving family. Born in Lowell June 13, 1944, he was the son of the late Edward P. and Gertrude M. (Dalton) Farley. Educated in Lowell public schools, he was a graduate of Lowell High School Class of 1962. He then enlisted in the US Navy and proudly served his Country during the Vietnam War. Mr. Farley was employed by the New England Telephone Company for many years, working in the Central Office Equipment Installation Department and after 37 years of service retiring from Verizon Co. in 2003. Ed was a Union employee and member of the IBEW 2321. He stood for what he believed in. He was a staunch, life-long registered Democrat. Throughout his illness he maintained great humor, integrity and courage. He leaves his beloved wife of 34 years, Patricia A. (McDonald) Farley of Bradford; a son, Kevin T. Farley and his wife, Jamie Stephenson of Atkinson, NH; a daughter and son-in-law, Alicia R. (Mailhot) Lankowski and Joseph S. of Billerica; a brother, Peter M. Farley of Lowell; three sisters, Nancy M. LaFerriere of Lowell, Susan M. McHale of Hawaii, Margaret B. "Peggy" Paine and her husband, Stanley of Newton, MA; and cherished grandchildren, Ava R., Steven J, and Cora M. Lankowski, as well as many nieces and nephews. He also leaves his close friend, Tom Kalista of Hampton, NH.; and many brothers and sisters in the Lord. It was his three grandchildren that kept him fighting until the end and was his best medicine. FARLEY Friends and family are respectfully invited to call on Tuesday at the Kevin B. Comeau Funeral Home, 486 Main St. (Rte. 125), Haverhill, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM. Funeral services will be held in the Kevin B. Comeau Funeral Home, immediately following the time of visitation at 7:00 PM. Burial is private.
