Francis Burns Obituary

Francis J. 'Sheriff' Burns of Lowell, Raytheon retiree, WWII vet; 87 LOWELL Francis J. "Sheriff" Burns, 87, husband of the late Marguerite (Belval) Burns, died Tuesday evening, October 28, 2008, in a local nursing home. Born in Lowell, on January 14, 1921, he was a son of the late Thomas F. and Nancy L. (Levy) Burns. Prior to his retirement, Mr. Burns was employed as a project manager with the Raytheon Corp. of South Lowell. An Army Veteran of World War II, he was a member of the Tyngsboro American Legion, Post 247 and a life member of the VFW, Walker Rogers Post 662. He also belonged to the Lowell Lodge of Elks, and the Centralville Social Club. A resident of the Centralville section of Lowell, he was a communicant of the former St. Louis de France Church. He is survived by a brother and his wife, Thomas B. and Doris Burns of Lowell; a sister-in-law, Mary Burns of Arcadia, CA; also several nieces and nephews. He was a brother of the late William Frederick, Rudolph and Gerard Burns. BURNS Francis J., age 87. It being his request, there will be no calling hours and Funeral Services will be private.
