James McDermott Obituary

James M. McDermott avid reader, enjoyed bass fishing & golf; 55 Methuen James M. McDermott, 55, of Methuen died Sunday in Methuen. Born on February 9, 1953 to the late Francis J. and Mary C. (Connors) McDermott. He attended St. Michael's Grammar School, North Andover High School and Merrimcak College. He started his career with New England Telephone in the 1970's, and held various positions over a 33 year career, most recently as a senior technician with Verizon. He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. Jim was an avid reader. He also enjoyed bass fishing and golfing. He played softball for many years in various leagues in the greater Lawrence area. One of his greatest joys was attending all of his son's hockey games. He is survived by his wife Cynthia (Dolliver) McDermott and his cherished son Brandon McDermott. Jim is also survived by his brother John McDermott and his wife Mary Fran of North Andover; three sisters and their husbands, Linda Casale and her husband Thomas of Haverhill, Kathleen St.Hiliare and her husband Kenneth of North Andover and Donna Brennan and her husband Thomas also of North Andover. Also among his survivors are his God Child Kerry Lynn Casale of North Andover as well as several nieces and nephews. MCDERMOTT A funeral mass will be offered on Friday at 10am at St. Michael's Church. Burial will follow in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, North Andover. Family and friends may call on Thursday from 4-8pm at the Conte Funeral Home, 17 Third St, North Andover. In lieu of flowers memorial contibutions may be made to the charity of one's choice.
