Diane Harris Obituary

Diane L. Harris formerly of Lowell, active in politics; 65 TOWNSEND Diane L. (Cote) Harris, 65, of Townsend, formerly of Lowell, died Sunday November 9, 2008 in Lowell General Hospital, following her battle with cancer. Born in Lowell, on February 22, 1943, she was the daughter of the late Jerome and Inez (Descoteaux) Cote. She received her education in the Lowell school system and was a graduate of Lowell High School class of 1961. Early in her career, Mrs. Harris had been employed for many years by the Lowell Housing Authority. More recently and until the time of her retirement, she was employed as the Clerk of the Works on various construction projects in Eastern Massachusetts over the span of 30 years. Active politically, she was a devout republican and a member of the Republican Party. She cherished the time she spent in the company of her grandchildren, visiting the North End of Boston, gardening, reading and watching NASCAR races. She had a lust for getting together with family and friends during Holidays. Mrs. Harris will be remembered for her generosity, independence, and as a trailblazer for Women in the Construction Industry. Surviving her are a daughter and son-in-law, Martha J. (Harris) and John Matusiak of Dracut; a son and daughter-in-law, Timothy J. and Leanne Harris of Medway; seven grandchildren, Jake and Olivia Matusiak of Dracut, and Andrew, Morgan, Alyssa, Hunter and Chase Harris of Medway; and a dear friend, Martin A. Harris of Townsend, The Flanagan Family of Lowell, The Fearon Family of Danville, NH, and Henry Naruszewicz of Lowell. HARRIS It being her wish, Funeral Services will be private and entrusted to the care of DRACUT FUNERAL HOME, 2159 Lakeview Avenue, DRACUT. Those who wish may make memorial contributions in her name to the Lowell General Hospital Cancer Center, c/o Development Office, 295 Varnum Ave., Lowell, MA 01854.
