Virginia Mellen, formerly of Westford Virginia (Barretto) Mellen, of Hyde Park, Dec. 4, in her 92nd Year. Beloved wife of the late Charles J. Mellen, Sr. Devoted mother of Charles J., Jr., and Peter M. Mellen of Hyde Park, and Jean Alves of Marshfield. Devoted sister of Francis Barretto of Nashua, NH, Ida Guinta of Westford, Lillian Peek of Tampa, FL, Gene Barretto of Nashua, NH, and the late Rose Pinnell, John J. and Dennis Barretto and Dora Elliott. Beloved grandmother of Capt. James D. Alves, U.S.A.F., Lori J. and Charles S. Alves. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, friends and extended family. Funeral from the Laughlin, Nichols & Pennacchio Funeral Home, 34 Oak St., (Cor. Maple St.) Hyde Park, Tuesday at 8:30 A.M. followed with a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Pius X Church, 101 Wolcott Rd., Milton, Tues. at 9:30 A.M. Relatives and friends invited. Visiting hours Sunday only 3:00 to 7:00 P.M. Graduate of Westford Academy Class of 1935 and late employee of Veterans Adm. of Boston. (Doorman Parking).

I was happy to share my hat with Aunt Virginia on the windy cold day we attended her brother Dennis's graveside service. She looked so cute!! I'm glad I got to be with her that day and share good memories. Here are some pictures taken later that day with her sisters and brothers.
