Loring Swaim Obituary

Loring T. Swaim, Jr. of Groton Loring T. Swaim, Jr. of Groton, MA, died on Saturday, November 29, 2008. He was 91. Born in Cambridge, MA, he was the son of the late Dr. and Mrs. Loring T. Swaim of Pepperell, MA. Devoted husband of 60 years to Eleanor Purdy Swaim, the father of Bob L. Swaim; five grandchildren (Roger, Amanda, Michael, Katharine, Nicholas); and two great-grandchildren (Jordan and Kaiden). He was the brother of the late Thomas Swaim of Chestnut Hill, MA, and Shirley Nickerson of Orleans, MA. Mr. Swaim attended the Noble and Greenough School, and graduated from Harvard College. For many years, he was a well-known journalist for the Lowell Sun covering local and state politics, head of the Massachusetts State House Press Corps, and a member of the Society of Colonial Wars. Interment will be private.
