James Curry Obituary

James E. 'Bud' Curry Lowell businessman, active in city, vet; 81 HAMPTON, N.H. James E. "Bud" Curry, 81, of Hampton, NH, formerly of Lowell, Mass., died Saturday, August 25, 2007, at Exeter Hospital in Exeter, N.H. He was the husband of Pearl F. (Hamilton) Curry, who died June 20, 2006. He was born in Lowell, Mass., on Oct. 24, 1925, the son of the late James E. and Margaret L. (Delmore) Curry. He graduated from St. Patrick's Boys School and Keith Academy. He also attended Franklin Institute in Boston. He was a longtime resident of Lowell. Mr. Curry served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, in the Pacific and North Atlantic Theatres. He was a participant in the Mermansk Run in Russia. He owned and operated J.E. Curry Co. from 1952 until 1987. He founded J.E. Curry Enterprises in 1954, Allstate Mechanical in 1979, and County Supply in 1983. Mr. Curry was a Past State and National President of the Plumbing Heating and Cooling Contractors Association (PHCC). He also served as Chairman of the Massachusetts State Board of Plumbing Examiners for many years. He was a member of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Parish in Hampton, NH, formerly of St. Patrick Parish in Lowell, MA. He was a member of the Vesper Country Club for over 30 years before retiring to Hampton. Mr. Curry also belonged to the American Legion in Portsmouth, N.H., Knights of Columbus, and the Lowell Rotary. He volunteered with the Acre Youth Organization, and Model Cities both of Lowell. Mr. Curry was a member of the President's Small Business Committee under President Carter. He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, D. William and Marguerite Curry of Amherst, N.H.; two daughters and their husbands, Lou Ann and Robert McNulty of Hudson, N.H., and Mary Ann and Michael Graham of Tyngsboro, Mass.; 10 grandchildren, Cathleen Bertoncini and her husband, Christopher, Shailagh Klicker and her husband, Matthew, Leslie Curry, James Curry, Erin McNulty, Tara McNulty, Blair McNulty, Craig Graham, Kellie Graham and Kate Graham; three great-grandchildren, Holden James Bertoncini, William Hayden Bertoncini and Finnegan Joseph Klicker; a brother-in-law, Gordon Hamilton of Lowell, Mass.; as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son, James E. (Buddy) Curry, and his sister, Marjorie and her husband, Edward Manning of Pinehurst, N.C. CURRY James "Bud" Curry, of Hampton, NH, formerly of Lowell, died Aug. 25, 2007. Visiting hours Wed. 4 to 8 PM. in the DOLAN FUNERAL HOME 106 MIDDLESEX ST., CHELMSFORD, MA. Funeral Thurs. at 8 AM from the Funeral Home with a funeral Mass at 9 AM at St. John the Evangelist Church in N. Chelmsford. Burial in St. Patrick Cemetery, Lowell.
