Peter F. McQuillan

Peter F. McQuillan retired Lowell firefighter, WWII veteran; 94 LOWELL Peter F. McQuillan, 94, of Pawtucketville, Lowell Fire Department retiree, died Sunday, November 4, 2007, at Haven Healthcare, Hampton, NH. A son of the late Charles F. and Helen (Kelly) McQuillan, he was born in Lowell on Aug. 8, 1913. He was a 1930 graduate of Lowell High School. He was a decorated US Army veteran of WWII, serving with General Patton's 4th Armored Division, until being wounded in Ardennes, during the Battle of the Bulge. Peter returned to Bastogne exactly 50 years after the first tank from the 4th Armored Division had entered the town. He was a firefighter for the City of Lowell from 1948 to his retirement in the 1970's. He was a communicant of St. Rita's Parish. He is survived by his niece, Maureen Cullen and her husband, Larry, of Hampton, NH; a nephew, Ronan Peter Donohoe and his wife, Laura of Portsmouth, NH; a grandniece, Elizabeth Donohoe of Newburyport; and a grandnephew, Charles Donohoe of Hong Kong.
