Anna Joyce Obituary

Anna P. Joyce active at St. William's; 78 TEWKSBURY Anna P. (Forti) Joyce, age 78, an active member of the Tewksbury Senior and St. William's Church communities, died Sunday afternoon, November 25, at Saint's Medical Center in Lowell, after a long period of declining health. She was the beloved wife of Albert G. "Al" Joyce, Jr., who died in 1979. She was born in Boston, on June 18, 1929, a daughter of the late Frank and Josephine (Papa) Forti. She was raised in Medford and was graduated from Medford High School, with the Class of 1948. She had lived in Tewksbury for the last five decades. She devoted her early life to raising her family, and later worked at Shawsheen Vocational Technical High School, food service program. She then became a secretary at State Street Bank and Trust, Credit Services Department, in Quincy, until her retirement. She and her late husband were active members of St. William's Parish, and she was named an honorary member of the St. William's Men's Club. As a couple, they were also active in the Fr. Coppen's Council, Knights of Columbus in Tewksbury. In her later years, she was an active member of the Tewksbury Seniors community, as a volunteer in the food distributions programs as well as a frequent visitor and "student" at the Senior Drop-In Center. She was a member of the Tewksbury Golden Age Club. She also worked during town elections at the D.P.W. Building, Precinct 1 and 1A. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, David and Kelly (Joyce) Joyce of Tewksbury; a daughter, Leslie Joyce of Nashua, NH; a sister, Stella McCarty of Malden; two beloved grandchildren, Connor Albert Joyce and Lydia Rose Joyce; and her longtime friend Theresa Hansford-Holt of Dracut. She was also sister of the late Frances Loschi; and predeceased by her dearest friend this past summer, Dorothy Gizzi-Edwards. JOYCE of Tewksbury, Nov. 25, Anna P. (Forti) Joyce, age 78. Her funeral will be held Thursday, Nov. 29, at 9:00 a.m. from the TEWKSBURY FUNERAL HOME, corner of Dewey and Main Sts. (Rte 38) TEWKSBURY CENTER, phone (800 in MA or 978) 851 2950. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday at 10:00 a.m. in St. William's Church, 1351 Main St. (Rte 38) Tewksbury. Burial will follow at Tewksbury Cemetery. Visiting hours Wednesday 4 to 7 p.m. in the funeral home. Joyce Family - I worked with Anna at State Street around 1978-1980 and remember her as a lovely, likeable person. I also remember when she/you all lost Al. My deepest sympathy for such a huge loss to your family.
